R&D Activities at Biosensor Instrumentation laboratory

The Biosensor Laboratory at Chennai Centreis acting as a unique R&D facility in Manufacturing of Instrumentations, Software Developments, and Nano-Drugs Formulations and up Keeping of Biomedical Instruments for Health Care Sectors, supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST) Government of India and Collaboration with State Governments, Private Industries, Academic Institution and Hospitals.

  • Research for Development of Compact and Reliable Electro-Optical Instrumentation Prototypes for Measurement of Change in Fluorescence Value in the Presence of Pathogens (Virus and Bacteria’s). Parasite Detection Instrument, Fluorescence based Pathogen Detector (Flouropath), Antibiogram Instrument were developed at the centre.
  • Training Programs on Biomedical Instrumentation. Training on "Up keeping Of Biomedical Instruments” for Hospital Technicians/Doctors at three Different Places in Tamilnadu. The Training was given on the Instruments along with Principle of Operation and its Preventive Maintenance.
  • To Develop Automation of Ultrasonic flow System for Preparation of Nanoformulation of Drugs.
  • Auditing the Services Provided by Third Party for AMC of Biomedical Equipment's in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
  • To Carry out Validation of Biomedical Equipment's for Government of Uttar Pradesh.
  • To Carry out Calibration of Bio Medical Instruments at BCG Vaccine Labs.

Flouropath

Pathogens cause millions of infections every year and are responsible for considerable economic losses worldwide. The current standard for the detection of bacterial pathogens is still the conventional cultivation following standardized and generally accepted protocols. However, these methods are time-consuming and thus are limited in their ability to protect users in time from potential microbial hazards.

Fluorescence based instrument for detecting pathogen (Flouropath) represents a rapid and highly specific technique for pathogen detection in the prepared sample. The instrument is proved for detection of following pathogens.
